Dr Naren Shetty is Head of the Department of Cataract and Refractive Lens Services and Director at Narayana Nethralaya, Bangalore, India. He completed his ophthalmology training in Bangalore and undertook advanced cataract and refractive training at Narayana Nethralaya, with additional experience under leading surgeons at the Moran Eye Center (USA) and Singapore National Eye Centre.

He was awarded a PhD from Maastricht University, the Netherlands, for his research analysing the optical performance of natural and intraocular lenses in Asian–Indian eyes.

Dr Shetty has contributed to more than 40 peer-reviewed publications and has participated in over 20 clinical trials. An experienced surgeon, he has performed more than 27,000 cataract and refractive procedures and regularly demonstrates surgical techniques at national and international meetings.
