Professor Banu Cosar is Chief of the Department of Ophthalmology at Acibadem MAA University School of Medicine in Istanbul, Türkiye. Her clinical and academic interests include corneal disease, cataract surgery, and refractive surgery.

Professor Cosar has authored 26 book chapters and more than 140 articles in peer-reviewed journals and serves as a reviewer for several leading ophthalmology publications. She is an active member of the Cornea, Cataract–Refractive Surgery, and Contactology units of the Turkish Ophthalmology Association.

She completed a research fellowship in cornea and external disease at Wills Eye Hospital, USA, and undertook her residency at Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital. She received her medical degree from Hacettepe University School of Medicine.
