Julie Schallhorn, MD
Dr Julie Schallhorn is Assistant Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where she specialises in cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery. Her clinical expertise includes cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, and laser refractive procedures, with a particular focus on optimising visual quality and patient-reported outcomes.
Dr Schallhorn earned undergraduate and master’s degrees in engineering before completing her medical degree at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. She undertook ophthalmology residency training at UCSF, followed by fellowship training in Uveitis at the F.I. Proctor Foundation and in Cornea, External Disease and Refractive Surgery at the Casey Eye Institute, Oregon Health & Science University.
An active investigator and educator, she serves on national committees for the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and is Associate Residency Program Director at UCSF.
