Dr Joaquin Fernandez is a specialist ophthalmologist and anterior segment surgeon with expertise in refractive surgery, presbyopia, and cataract management. He holds an MSc in Evidence-Based Medicine from the University of Oxford and a PhD in Applied Physics from the University of Alicante.

He is CEO of Qvision and Medical Director of the Ophthalmology Institute within the Vithas Hospital Group in Andalusia. An elected member of the Council and Executive Secretary of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS), he chairs the ESCRS Functional Vision Working Group and has led international standards for reporting intraocular lens outcomes.

Dr Fernandez has published more than 90 peer-reviewed papers and is internationally recognised for his work in multifocal intraocular lenses.
