Professor Dr. Michael C. Knorz is the medical director of the FreeVis LASIK Center Mannheim, which he founded in 2000. Since August 2023, the center has become a part of the EuroEyes Group. Prof. Knorz is internationally recognized as one of the leading experts in the field of refractive surgery and cataract surgery. 

In the year 2000, Prof. Knorz was appointed as a professor of ophthalmology at the University of Heidelberg. Prof. Knorz is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS), the International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS), the German-speaking Society for Intraocular Lens Implantation and Refractive Surgery (DGII), the German Ophthalmological Society (DOG), the Australasian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (AUSCRS), and has been an honorary member of the South African Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (SASCRS) since 2005.

Since 1995, Prof. Knorz has been actively involved in the quality assurance of refractive surgery. He is a founding member of the “Commission for Refractive Surgery” (KRC), a joint commission of the German Ophthalmological Society (DOG) and the Professional Association of German Ophthalmologists (BVA), established in 1995 to ensure quality assurance in the field of refractive surgery. From 1998 to 2002, Prof. Knorz served as the chairman of the KRC, and since 2002, he has been involved as the secretary on the board of the KRC.

Within the EuroEyes Group, Prof. Knorz has been working as a Consulting Surgeon in China since 2014. Additionally, since 2019, he has held the position of Senior Vice President, Medical Affairs (International), and is a member of the EuroEyes International Medical Advisory Board.
