“The Australasian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons was formed in 1995. It is a society dedicated to the specific interests and challenges of cataract and refractive surgery and offers a unique forum for discussion and learning for both surgeons and their support staff.”
AUSCRS is affiliated with the International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS) and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), the Asian Pacific Association of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons (APACRS) as well as other peer societies around the world.
AUSCRS continues to grow as a society with its core aim of being a committed, special-interest group of ophthalmologists interested in education and dissemination of knowledge, new techniques and exploring the boundaries of their specialty.
A word from our President & Vice President
A Word from Our President and Vice-President
From Jacqui Beltz, President:
I’m honoured to be serving as President of AUSCRS. Taking on this role back in 2022 as co-president with Gerard Sutton was a dream come true. Leading our first meeting together in 2023 reminded me how special this is. Since Graham Barrett and Rick Wolfe started AUSCRS in 1995, it’s become like a family to us all. Many of us, like Andrea Ang and I, have grown up through AUSCRS - attending since we were fellows. I’m excited to keep the momentum going and continue building this amazing community of cataract and refractive surgeons together with Andrea.
From Andrea Ang, Vice-President:
"I'm truly honoured and excited to join Jacqui as Vice-President. I look forward to working closely with her and contributing to the continued growth and strength of our community. AUSCRS is built on a foundation of support, mentorship, and camaraderie, and I can’t wait to see what we’ll achieve together in the years ahead.
Together, we’re proud to be part of this inspiring and supportive community we all cherish.
