AUSCRS - A Brief History

'To support and advance our community of surgeons in the advancement of the art and science of cataract and refractive surgery.'

The Australasian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons was formed in 1995. It is a society dedicated to the specific interests and challenges of cataract and refractive surgery and offers a unique forum for discussion and learning for both surgeons and their support staff.

The annual AUSCRS conference is a vital focal point for the Society and has become a regular on the calendars of Australian and New Zealand ophthalmic practices. The meeting provides an opportunity to source up-to-date information on scientific developments within the field of cataract and refractive surgery, as well as the many diverse areas which affect ophthalmic practices.

AUSCRS is affiliated with the International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS) and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) as well as other peer societies around the world. In Australia , RANZCO is also affiliated with AUSCRS.

AUSCRS continues to grow as a society with its core aim of being a committed, special-interest group of ophthalmologists interested in education and dissemination of knowledge, new techniques and exploring the boundaries of their specialty. Our success is due to the support of our members and to the ongoing support of our industry partners.
